While everyone else was stressing about making food for Thanksgiving I had already set aside the items to make the dish I was bringing and so I sat down and relaxed before the big day with a Thanksgiving themed horror film. Everyday I find out about more holiday films that I somehow missed. You will see me write about a bunch of the Christmas ones when I get a chance. But alas this isn’t about any of those films this is about the newest film in the Into The Dark series on Hulu. I have been really hit and miss with the show so far. This is the second installment of the second season. I was though very excited for another Thanksgiving show since the last one left me feeling unfulfilled. This movie instead was campy and fun and just the right amount of gore.
So Pilgrim is about a wife who feels her family isn’t being grateful enough for what they have and invites pilgrim re-en actors to their home to have a thanksgiving like the settlers did. This of course turns bad and we end up with a blood bath and a lot of people wishing they had been more thankful.
I had some problems with the film like when one of the main characters finds someone dead instead of going to the police, she goes back to her house where the people she suspects did it are staying.
That brings me to the point I hate in all horror movies why do people always go back to where the killer is. Do they really believe that people are regularly that brave? I know that if I saw a dead person and i suspected my guests did it, I would not be going back to my house to just go hang out with them.
I did enjoy the acting of the man playing Ethan. I thought he was just the right amount of creepy and fun. He was the most captivating part of the show and I definitely thought he brought a lot to the table so to speak. This might end up in a hire part of my list for this show. It was a solid B film. If you want some gore to go with your holiday turkey look no further.
